February 27th, 1911: Ed Davis

On this day in 1911, Ed Davis is born in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The oldest of 10 children will migrate to Detroit and open an automobile dealership in 1939 in Paradise Valley, a predominately African-American business and entertainment district. On November 11, 1963, he will become the first African-American to be awarded a Big Three auto dealership. He will call it: Ed Davis, Inc., Plymouth-Chrysler-Imperial Sales & Service.
